It will be a last resort if I am ever on prednisone, long-term ever again in my life.

Being on prednisone is not an easy journey for me, but this time it is better and I think it’s because I’m supplementing what my body is being depleted of and my strategic plan has helped.

Prednisone Update

It will be a last resort if I am ever on prednisone, long-term ever again in my life as it nearly destroyed me. I did find it necessary to change doctors and luckily my new doctor is amazing, listens to me and is supporting my decision to be on prednisone, long-term and finding other ways of treatment.

I started out at 40mg prednisone on June 10th. As of July 4th I am down to 25 mg. Each week my blood work is twice as good as it was the week before. My AST is 30 and under 40 is considered good. My ALT is 47 and needs to be under 32. I am nearly there.

So far, I do believe taking all the supplements has definitely helped and the side effects have not been as severe. I feel like the withdrawals have been much easier and I’m not having major issues.

Biggest Issues

My brain misfiring, not being able to find words remember things. not being able to stop thinking and constantly needing to clean or organize. It’s not nearly as bad as it was in the past when I’ve been on prednisone I feel like there’s more control.

Insatiable hunger is not a severe. I do have the plan in place but do still have those moments just not as intense.

Sleeping is definitely much better a good percentage of the time I will get three hours of really deep sleep. I might be up for an hour and then I’ll get another three hours of really deep sleep that coupled with a big rest or nap in the afternoon is great. 2-3 days a week. I’m getting 4-5 hours of sleep in a row which is absolutely wonderful.

Round Face and Weight. So far, I haven’t gained any weight. Yes, my face is big and round my belly hasn’t got huge as it normally does, the fact I haven’t gained any weight is absolutely amazing.

Withdrawals. I haven’t experienced any major withdrawal symptoms so far. Fatigue has been the worst. I’ve had no flu like symptoms, or the deep depression that I have had in the past.

Dark Thoughts. Prednisone also in the past has lead to dark thoughts and set me spiraling down a hole. I have some occasional dark thoughts, but I’m able to recognize them and stop and they’re not nearly as intense or frequent.
