How To Use This Space
When life changes in ways you never asked for, advice can feel hollow. You may already know you’re “supposed” to cope well, stay positive, and make good choices—yet no one handed you a map for the life you didn’t choose.
We will explore coping with life altering events and chronic illness support discovering that you still hold the most important piece of this journey: yourself.
Thriving inside the Storm is born from a very personal journey—moving from grief, anger, and disbelief into a place of imperfect, ever-shifting acceptance that can feel sad or defeating. This guide does not offer quick fixes or cures; it gathers what was learned in the long in-between spaces of pain, fear, and adjustment.coping with

How to use this blog
This is a space to slow down, notice what’s happening inside you, and gently turn ideas into a plan that fits your real life—not the life you used to have, or the life other people think you should be living. Here you’ll find questions, prompts, and small planning exercises designed to help you listen to your body, honor your losses, and build new forms of support and meaning.
I suggest you read the blogs in order, each step builds upon the next.
There are no right answers here and no grades—only experiments, honest reflections, and tiny choices that can add up over time.
You can explore and/or take notes all at once or a little at a time.
You might skip a question or section that doesn’t fit, come back to a section months later, or repeat the same page during a new flare, a setback, or another wave of grief.
Use the Guide however you feel it is useful for you. Let it meet you where you are, and take only what feels helpful in each moment. This space is here to support you not to rush you.
Most of all, let it remind you that even in a life you didn’t choose, your voice, your choices, and your hope still matter. I hope these pages speak to you in the quiet moments when you need them the most.
The Journey Unfolds
Navigating the storm is about learning how to respond to it in a way that works for you. It’s not about rushing yourself, but about creating your own guide for moving forward toward a life beyond simply surviving. Change asks something different of us than we expected, and learning to move with it takes practice. Over time, confidence can begin to grow, not because everything is easy, but because you are learning how to stay with yourself through what is hard. Be patient with yourself. Noticing that you are struggling is not failure; it is the first step toward finding your way forward.
Your Storm Survival Guide
From here, you can begin building a plan that meets you where you are. This is your storm survival guide, something you can return to when life feels unsettled, overwhelming, or out of reach. It is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about creating a guide tailored to fit you., something honest, personal, and useful.
As you continue, you may find that steadiness comes through repetition, not pressure. Growing takes root through practice. The more you return to what supports you, the more natural those it begins to feel. Give yourself grace as you build. What you need most may be simple: rest, peace, balance, and time.
Reclaiming Control
While many parts of life may be beyond your control, you still have a say in how you care for yourself and what you choose to build next. Trauma can disrupt your sense of identity and leave you feeling as though much has been taken, but it cannot take away every possibility. There are still choices available to you, and those choices matter.
Reclaiming control is not about fixing everything. It is about recognizing what is still yours to shape. These might include your daily routines and small chores, how you spend your time and energy each day, what you allow in your space or the perspective you bring to your challenges. You may also discover different kinds of support along the way, therapy, medication, routines, nourishing food, gentle movement, relaxation, online communities, in person connection, fresh perspective and encouragement from others. The key is noticing which ones help you feel even slightly steadier, then leaning into those as your foundation.
Everyday Navigation Steps
Your self-perception shapes your path forward. This is where the process becomes more paratactical, not heavier, just more specific. Everyday life asks for small, repeatable steps that help you move through the day with more awareness and less resistance. The goal is not to force progress, but to build patterns that support you in real life.
Use the prompts and exercises in this book to notice what is happening inside you and to turn those insights into practical next steps.
Listen to your body. Pay attention to what feels steady. Build support that fits the life you are living now, not the one you used to have or the one others expect from you.
There is no rush here. This book is meant to walk beside you, at your pace, as you learn what works.
Recognizing what needs attention is the beginning of change. And even now, you still hold the most important piece of this journey: yourself.
This is my array of thoughts, experiences and ideas. I do not have any medical training or claim to have any answers. This is just me sharing my experiences and I hope you can find something of value for yourself.
